18 Photos to Inspire you to Discover the Yucatan Peninsula
The Yucatan is certainly our favorite region of Mexico. From the white sand beaches in Tulum to the incredible underground cenotes outside of Valladolid, without forgetting vibrant and colourful Merida, this region truely has something for everyone! Oh and did we mention some of the best food we’ve had anywhere (and cheap too!). The Yucatan is an absolutely beautiful place to discover and not to be missed if you’re planning a trip to Mexico.
We thought we’d share some of our favorite photos from our time here to inspire you to come discover it for yourself!
TULUM
With it’s boho-vibes, incredible cenotes and a laid back vibe you just can’t help but want to stay here much longer than you intended to. If you need help planning your Tulum vacation, check out our complete Tulum travel guide here.
VALLADOLID
If you looking for a truely authentic small Mexican town, look no further than Valladolid. Typically used as just a day stop for folks headed to one of the many beautiful cenotes or to Chichen-Itza, we’d definitely recommend you stay here at least a few days. It’s charming in all the right ways.
CHICHEN-ITZA
A visit to the Yucatan wouldn’t be complete without it. The most visited attraction in the region and one of the New Seven Wonders, the ancient Mayan capital is an awe inspiring site. Get here from Valladolid or Merida on a day trip. Oh, and get there early, the site opens at 8am!
MERIDA
We stayed in the capital of the Yucatan for a whole week to work, edit, relax, eat and get to know “the white city” (don’t let this nickname fool you, as it’s wonderfully colourful!).
THE FOOD
Tacos, tortas, local cervezas, panuchos, mojitos, pina coladas, ceviches, avocados on toast; the list of fresh local food is in itself enough of a reason to book a ticket to Mexico!
